Changing the clutch poses no great task other than the usual access problems. A special tool set is required to get the drive hub off the waterpump shaft. On my 2005 Canyon 3.5 engine, the fan clutch seems to stay engaged after cold start-up and goes quiet after a the first block or so of driving.

I had my fan clutch replaced on my 08 Expedition 5.4 while the dealer was chasing a squealing sound-didn't help- and now on cold startups my fan roars for 20-30 seconds when cold.
