He was known for his intimidating presence on the mound and ability to pitch inside effectively. WebbDrysdale graduated from Van Nuys (Calif.) High School in June 1954. After graduation, the right-handed pitcher signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers franchise. After spending two years in the minor leagues, Drysdale was called up to the majors in 1956, winning five games and losing five games.
